Anatomy & Physiology
This course is designed for students to conduct laboratory and field investigations, use scientific methods during investigations, and make informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving. Students in Anatomy and Physiology will study a variety of topics, including the structure and function of the human body and the interaction of body systems for maintaining homeostasis.
Medical Assistant
This course equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to embark on a career as a medical assistant while enhancing their college and career readiness. Throughout the course, students will develop communication skills, gain insights into clinical ethics, cultivate safety awareness, and acquire valuable information about various medical assisting career opportunities.
Medical Coding & Billing
This course introduces students to the procedures, terminology, and medical codes used in the field. Students will also learn about the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and develop the necessary skills to maintain accurate records. Understanding the entire revenue cycle and its efficient management will be a focus of the course. By completing this course, students will be better prepared for entry-level positions in health care settings, such as coder, medical billing specialist, and patient access representative.
Medical Microbiology
This course is designed to delve into the microbial world, studying topics such as pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms, laboratory procedures, identifying microorganisms, drug-resistant organisms, and emerging diseases.
Pathophysiology
This course aims to engage students by studying disease processes and their impact on humans with an emphasis on disease prevention and treatment. Moreover, students will learn to distinguish between normal and abnormal physiological functions.
Principles of Health Science
This course is designed to provide an overview of the therapeutic, diagnostic, health informatics, support services and biotechnology research and development systems of the healthcare industry. Lessons in the course include Disease Prevention, Human Development and much more.
Health Science Theory
This course is designed to provide foundational knowledge of common skills and procedures utilized in careers in the healthcare field. Students will employ hands-on experiences for continued knowledge and skill development. To better understand health science theory and the healthcare industry, students will learn about safety procedures, medical records, proper terminology, the importance of the healthcare system and much more.
Medical Terminology
This course is designed to introduce students to the structure of medical terms, including prefixes, suffixes, word roots, singular and plural forms and medical abbreviations. The course allows students to achieve comprehension of medical vocabulary appropriate to medical procedures, human anatomy and physiology and pathophysiology in order to prepare students for the medical profession.
