Mesa Community College (MCC) Partners with iCEV to Help Students in the Sustainable Horticulture Program Earn Free College Credit
Students who earn industry certifications through the iCEV Testing Platform can receive up to 11 credit hours toward their Associate of Applied Science degree or Certificates of Completion
iCEV, a trailblazer in Career & Technical Education (CTE) solutions, is partnering with Mesa Community College (MCC) in Arizona to offer Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credit to students enrolled in MCC’s new Sustainable Horticulture Program. Now, students who earn approved agriculture certifications through the iCEV Testing Platform can receive up to 11 credit hours at no cost, helping them complete their Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or Certificates of Completion (CCL) more quickly and affordably.
“MCC’s Sustainable Horticulture Program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed for high-demand careers in the agribusiness field,” said Dusty Moore, CEO of iCEV. “Our partnership with MCC not only reinforces the value of industry-recognized certifications, it helps support motivated students by awarding them credit for their achievements as they advance through the program and prepare to enter the workforce.”
MCC’s Sustainable Horticulture Program helps students looking to pursue careers in agribusiness, organic farming, greenhouse management, beekeeping, and more gain a deep understanding of farming, agribusiness management, and the principles and practices of sustainable horticulture.
Students can apply the following industry certifications hosted on the iCEV Testing Platform for PLA credit as they advance through the program:
- BASF Plant Science (4 credit hours)
- Elanco Fundamentals of Animal Science (3 credit hours)
- NRCS Fundamentals of Conservation & Sustainability in Agriculture (4 credit hours)
Each certification exam consists of 100 questions and verifies students have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in these areas.
Students must be active at MCC with an eligible Academic Plan Code to earn PLA credits. To receive the credits, students must complete the online PLA application form. Once submitted, students can begin applying their certifications toward an Associate of Applied Science degree or Certificates of Completion.
