iCEV Acquires DroneCurriculum.net

Acquisition leads to expansion of iCEV course offerings in Agricultural Science, Architecture, Construction & Manufacturing, Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security and STEM.
Lubbock, Texas (June 6, 2022)

iCEV, a leading producer of Career & Technical Education (CTE) curriculum and instructional materials and industry certification testing platform, has acquired DroneCurriculum.net. Launching fall 2022, the addition of DroneCurriculum.net’s curriculum assets will expand the iCEV course library for the STEM and agricultural science sites.

Founded by a former CTE educator, DroneCurriculum.net was created to offer a stand-alone curriculum option rooted in principles and concepts. The resource focuses on four primary areas: theory and design, flight skills, programming and preparation for the FAA Remote Pilot Certification Exam. Not only are these focus areas relevant to drone science, the knowledge and skills are also applicable to other CTE subject areas, specifically those related to programming and engineering and design. Because the content was written by a former educator, it is uniquely applicable to classroom use and designed to successfully teach drone concepts.

“DroneCurriculum.net is thrilled to join the iCEV platform,” said Bob Affonso, DroneCurriculum.net’s Founder & CEO. “iCEV brings the resources and experience to take our programs to the next level, enhancing the user experience while expanding the reach to more students and teachers served, which is our ultimate mission.”

The curriculum from DroneCurriculum.net will be implemented as three new iCEV courses: Drone Theory & Design, Learn to Fly & UAS Remote Pilot Certification (FAA Part 107 Training). Those who earn the UAS Remote Pilot Certification are licensed to fly drones commercially. Along with theory and practical application, each course will feature a career exploration component through career interviews with drone professionals across various sectors of the industry. All three courses will be available in both STEM and agricultural science sites on the iCEV platform.

“Drones are an emerging technology across multiple industries,” said Dusty Moore, iCEV’s President & CEO. “Today’s students need to be able to understand the application of drones and the processes needed to use and maintain drone equipment properly. Additionally, we see drones as a way for students to apply technical concepts in a fun and exciting way.”

The demand for drone specialists is growing. According to the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, more than 100,000 new jobs related to drone technology will be created by 2025, creating an $82 billion economic impact. Along with drone pilots, career options include programming, design, engineering, mechanics, and data analysis specialties.

“We’re excited about this opportunity this acquisition brings to the iCEV platform,” said Clayton Franklin, iCEV’s Chief Product Officer. “The content added from DroneCurriculum.net will be a significant asset to our STEM and agricultural science sites providing more educational opportunities to countless teachers and students across the nation.”
