Through the district’s Career Academies, learners explore career interests while building the academic knowledge and real-world skills needed for success.
Career Academies create smaller learning communities within larger schools where students focus on career themes while completing rigorous coursework. Along the way, they gain hands-on experience through internships, job shadowing, and work-based learning opportunities that bring classroom lessons to life.
Starting as early as middle school, students begin discovering their strengths and exploring possible career pathways. As they move through high school, those interests evolve into specialized academy experiences aligned with fields like engineering, digital media, construction, culinary arts, and agriscience.
Through this approach, Oklahoma City Public Schools helps students graduate with more than a diploma. They leave with practical skills, real-world experience, and a clearer vision for what comes next.
