The NRCS Fundamentals of Conservation & Sustainability in Agriculture Certification is Now Available on the iCEV Testing Platform
The NRCS Fundamentals of Conservation & Sustainability in Agriculture Certification, created in collaboration with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Texas Corn Producers (TCP), is now available on the iCEV Testing Platform. The certification verifies individuals have obtained exceptional knowledge and skills in the areas of conservation and sustainability of various natural resources including:
- Soil
- Water
- Animals
- Plants
- Air
Career opportunities in natural resources are expected to grow as a result of the greater value society has begun to place on the environment. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts there will be approximately 7,800 job openings each year for environmental scientists and specialists. Career opportunities include forest and conservation technicians, conservation scientists, environmental restoration planners and sustainability analysts.
“Understanding natural resources helps raise awareness about the importance of preserving and conserving them for future generations,” said Quenna Terry, NRCS Public Affairs Specialist. “This knowledge can contribute to the creation of jobs, economic growth, and the development of industries and technologies that utilize natural resources efficiently.”
“Texas Corn Producers is excited to be a part of developing this opportunity for the next generation to gain an understanding of agriculturists’ commitment to conserving natural resources,” said Kyla Hamilton, the TCP Advertising, Promotion and Education Committee Chair. “Working with NRCS and iCEV, this certification uniquely equips students with the foundational knowledge of how agriculturists work to leave our land better than before.”
iCEV is proud to host the NRCS Fundamentals of Conservation & Sustainability in Agriculture Certification. To earn the certification, candidates must pass a 100-question exam. iCEV offers optional study materials designed to prepare individuals to earn the certification.
“We are excited about the partnership with both NRCS and Texas Corn Producers,” said Clayton Franklin, iCEV's Chief Product Officer. “The Fundamentals of Conservation & Sustainability in Agriculture Certification prepares earners for a meaningful and important career of conserving our environment and natural resources through sustainable agricultural practices that will help feed our growing world."
