Gabriel Stotz
CTE Director
With a strong foundation in both science and educational leadership, Gabriel Stotz brings extensive experience to his role as CTE Director for the Yakima School District. Holding a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Central Washington University, Stotz began his career as a Fish Biologist with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife before transitioning into education. Since joining the Yakima School District, he has served as a teacher, Career and College Readiness Specialist, and Assistant Principal, culminating in his current leadership position overseeing Career and Technical Education.

What are your key CTE responsibilities in your current job role?
Program Oversight and Compliance: I oversee all CTE programs to ensure alignment with OSPI standards, maintain program approval status and manage the district’s CTE Plan and federal Perkins funding.
Curriculum and Instructional Leadership: I support teachers in developing, revising and implementing standards-based CTE frameworks that integrate academic, technical and employability skills.
Professional Development: I design and deliver professional learning opportunities for CTE teachers, counselors and support staff to strengthen instructional practices and overall program quality.
Industry and Postsecondary Partnerships: I build and maintain relationships with local employers, community organizations and postsecondary institutions to enhance work-based learning, dual credit options and career pathway opportunities.
Data, Reporting and Accountability: I analyze enrollment, performance and postsecondary data to inform program improvement and ensure equitable access and outcomes for all students.
Student Support and Career Readiness: I collaborate with counselors and educators to ensure all students have meaningful access to career exploration, High School and Beyond Plans and pathways that support their individual goals.
Why do you feel CTE is important to the future of education?
Career and Technical Education is essential to the future of education because it connects academic learning with the development of technical and professional skills that prepare students to thrive in an evolving workforce. CTE equips students with the knowledge and experiences needed for success, whether they choose to enter the workforce directly, pursue an apprenticeship or military service or continue their education through college.
What is the biggest benefit students can receive from enrolling in CTE programs/course?
The biggest benefit students gain from CTE programs is the opportunity to apply academic knowledge through hands-on learning that builds real-world technical and professional skills aligned with high-demand careers.
What are some of your hobbies?
Golf, video games, hunting and fishing.
