Getting Your Students Certified Using LMS (LTI) Integration
This tutorial will guide you through the process of getting your students certified using iCEV's LMS (LTI) Integration.
Certification Testing & Access Guidelines
iCEV certification testing is designed to ensure a secure and standardized experience for all students. Please review the important details below regarding testing and platform access.
Certification Exams (iCEV Platform Only)
- All certification pretests and final certification exams must be completed directly within the iCEV platform.
- These exams cannot be imported into or taken through your district's Learning Management System (LMS).
Gradebook Considerations
- Assignments completed directly in iCEV do not sync with your LMS gradebook.
- Grades for these activities will need to be manually entered into your LMS, if required.
Before Exam Day
To help avoid login issues and delays:
- Students should log in and verify their credentials.
- This should be completed at least 48 hours prior to testing.
Student Login Options
(When Accessing iCEV Directly)
Students using an LMS can still access iCEV directly using one of the following methods:

SSO: Google or Microsoft
- No need to remember a separate password.
- Provides a faster and more secure login experience.
- Recommended for districts utilizing Google or Microsoft accounts.
Username & Password
- Ideal for students without an email address linked to their iCEV account.
- Works well for districts not using Google or Microsoft authentication.
SSO: Continue with Google
1. Access Your Certification Course
- Log in to your iCEV account
- Navigate to your certification course
- Click on "Manage Roster"
- Verify that the email address attached to your students' iCEV account matches the email address we will receive through Google.
- If the email address is blank: Click the "Change Email" hyperlink to update it, OR use the "Username and Password" option for your students.
2. Student Login
Students log in by clicking "Continue with Google" from the iCEV platform.

3. Take the Pretest or Certification Exam
Once logged in, students should:
- Click on their certification course

- Navigate to the certification exam section and check in: Proctoring Tutorial
- Proceed with proctoring the certification exam.
SSO: Sign in with Microsoft
1. Student Login
Students log in by clicking "Sign in with Microsoft" from the iCEV platform.

2. Take the Pretest or Certification Exam
Once logged in, students should:
- Click on their certification course

- Navigate to the certification exam section and check in: Proctoring Tutorial
- Proceed with proctoring the certification exam.
Username & Password
1. Access Your Certification Course
- Log in to your iCEV account
- Navigate to your certification course
- Click on "Manage Roster" in your Classroom Management menu.

2. Distribute Students' Usernames
- Provide each student with their LTI username.
- Consider sharing this information securely (e.g., written note, secure email).
3. Generate One-Time Passcode
- Click on the “Generate one-time passcode" link.
- Distribute the one-time passcode to the student. Note: This code is specific to the individual student.

- From the main login form, the student should select "Forgot Password", then click "Use a one-time code instead" and enter the code.

- This code will expire in 30 minutes.
- This will only work if there is an email connected to the student’s account.
- Once the student enters the code, they will immediately be prompted to reset their password.
4. Student Login Process
Instruct your students to follow these steps:
- Go to login.icevonline.com
- Enter the username you provided.
- Enter the password they set up.
- Click "Login".

5. Taking the Certification Exam
Once logged in, students should:
- Click on their certification course.
- Navigate to the certification exam section.
- Proceed with the certification exam as usual.
Important Considerations
Username Consistency Requirements
- If a student created a manual username for their certification pretest, they must use that same username for their posttest certification exam.
- This ensures their growth is properly displayed on certification reports.
- Failure to use consistent usernames will result in incomplete progress tracking.
Username Limitations
- LTI Student usernames cannot be edited by instructors.
- If you need assistance with username issues, contact iCEV support.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Test the login process with a few students before rolling out to the entire class.
