iCEV Testing Platform Certification Accommodations

Special accommodations are available for certification candidates with current medical needs, 504 Plans and/or Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

It is the district’s responsibility to meet all local, state and federal accommodations requirements, including English Language Learner (ELL) guidelines.

iCEV accommodations include:

  • Multiple test sessions (exams consist of 100 questions and will be split into four 25 question segments)

District accommodations can include:

  • Use of district-provided electronic screen reader
    • If your district uses a screen reading application with other testing or learning platforms, you may be able to use the same application with iCEV.
    • Some devices have a built‐in, read-aloud option that can be turned on within the device itself.
  • Dictation of exam directions, questions and answer choices in a one-on-one setting (The reader must be a separate school staff member. A proctor cannot serve as a reader and a proctor in the same testing session.)
    • Text must be read as it is written. It may not be changed, explained or translated.

For ELL, accommodations can include the above plus:

  • Bilingual dictionary provided by the district
  • English dictionary provided by the district

Any certification candidate may take breaks as needed, but candidates cannot take any personal items when leaving the room for a break. Please note that though the exam is not timed, it will time out after one hour of inactivity. (The average testing time is 65 minutes.)

To request special accommodations for a testing candidate, please complete and submit the form on this page.  An iCEV representative will contact the district contact with instructions after receiving the form.

If your district requires parental consent to share student 504 and IEP information, it is the district’s responsibility to obtain that consent before requesting accommodations from iCEV. Additionally, it is the district’s responsibility to verify student medical needs, 504 Plan needs, and/or IEP needs and request accordingly. The district should keep records of students' qualified and current needs that correspond with this request for at least one year after the request is made. iCEV reserves the right to audit Accommodations requests and that 504 and IEP documents may be requested.
