Compact track loaders are some of the most versatile machines on any jobsite. This course, developed with Caterpillar experts, gives learners the well-rounded skill set the machine demands.

About This Certificate

This certificate assesses foundational understanding of compact track loader operation and common jobsite applications, including machine controls, attachment operation, material handling, grading, loading and site preparation.

Lesson Outline:

  • Walkaround. Learn pre-operation machine inspection procedures.
  • Control Familiarization. Learn and understand operator controls and dashboard symbols.
  • Maneuvering Machine. Learn to position the bucket and maneuver the machine around the worksite.
  • Load & Carry. Practice using the bucket to load and unload material at an active work site with tight maneuvering spaces and a slope. Use the pallet forks attachment to load and unload pallets.
  • Finish Grading with Bucket. Learn how to use the bucket for finish grading.
  • Finish Grading with Box Blade. Learn how to use a box blade attachment for finish grading.
  • Concrete Pad Removal. Learn to use the hammer attachment to break up a concrete pad.

How the Course Works:

The course includes learner guides, videos, how-to graphics and interactive lessons, with progress tracked individually and by group. It runs through a traditional LMS or offline through a mobile app for tablets, so instruction works in the classroom, remotely or without internet access.
